Brit film awards tap Stephen Fry
LONDON -- The BBC and BAFTA have tapped thesp Stephen Fry as host of the British Academy Film Awards on Feb. 12 at London's Royal Opera House. Fry shepherded the ceremony from 2001 to 2006, when he handed over to talkshow celebrity Jonathan Ross. Fry has also hosted BAFTA/LA's Britannia Awards.He will be seen next in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" and "The Hobbit." The kudocast is produced by Whizz Kid Entertainment and BAFTA Prods.Amanda Berry, CEO of BAFTA, said, "Stephen's love of cinema, his keen sense of fun and his characteristic panache will be a huge draw for the biggest film night of 2012." "I am honored and pleased to return to the lectern and host what I am sure will be an evening of squeals, surreally weird acceptance speeches and genuinely exciting surprises and pleasures," Fry said.
