Butch Vig, a Wisconsin native and former student in the College of Wisconsin, dropped to pursue work in music. Vig: Sub Pop have been a hot indie label for quite some time. Actually, I had been an associate from the Sub Pop Singles Club. Each month they'd send a awesome split single between two artists. Vig: The funny factor is, once they found Wise, Jonathan [Poneman] from Sub Pop sent me Bleach, the very first record Nirvana released. And to tell the truth, I wasn't that impressed.
